The Ontario Energy Board recently issued a report saying natural gases prices in Ontario will increase if the $12-billion Energy East pipeline project goes ahead. “They estimated that on average, over a 20-year period, in the winter time, natural gas prices in eastern Ontario will be 11.9 per cent higher than if Energy East did not go ahead,” said Peter Fraser, OEB vice-president. The pipeline—which runs through Kanata—Carleton and has dangerous risks of leaking—will convert an existing natural gas pipeline to carry bitumen from Alberta to the east coast.
The Green Party is the only party to opposes the Energy East project. We can win in Kanata—Carleton. Winning this riding will give the Green Party more power to fight for your rights in an expected minority parliament.
